What I Have To Offer »
Time
The amount of time candidates are able to devote to the office for which they are running is important to take into consideration when you are choosing who to support. Being home schooled, self employed, and enrolled in CollegePlus! I have plenty of available time and my schedule if very flexible. I have the time, and I am willing to devote all of the time necessary to perform the duties of Speaker of The house. Many ask “How many hours can you invest per week?”, that question can’t really be answered. I have asked many current and former cabinet members, and all have said that the amount of time fluctuates from week to week. I can tell you that I will commit as much time to the office of Speaker as is necessary to make Patriot Academy 2013 better than any academy before.
Technology
Technology and web innovation is becoming more and more important. As Patriot Academy enters into its second decade I think the internet, technology, and social networks will play an increasingly important role in the development and improvement of the Academy. In 2009 Thomas Umstattd took me under his wing, so to speak, and taught me the basics of WordPress. Since then I have learned all I can about Web designs and development. In 2010 I founded my own web design company. Since then I have developed tools for Patriots to use such at the Patriot Academy Countdown, PatriotRules.org, and a test version of an online ‘I Like Because’ web app. I have several revolutionary projects in the works, many of which will be public by Patriot Academy 2012.
Leadership
As an Eagle Scout, I know what leadership is. But it’s not what most think, leadership doesn’t come from a title or position. Leadership is like climbing up a mountain and helping the people behind you, taking them higher as you go higher. To use a phrase that is cliche, ‘True leadership is service to others.’ Servant leadership is what is expected from the cabinet, and I have learned true servant leadership as a scout.
Communication
Although I have never been in any traditional debate competition, I have been debating all my life, with family and friends. In my 2 years as a student at Patriot Academy I poured over the communication lectures, learning all I could. I even purchased the DVD version of the lectures. I have continued to learn about communication. I have invited open critique of my communication ability and this has helped me grow even further. Today I believe my communication is leaps and bounds better than it was my freshman year at Patriot Academy.
